A trades person has a high degree of practical knowledge and skill.
He or she begins as an apprentice, working for and learning from a Master. After a certain number of successful years, the apprentice becomes a journeyman. After he/she demonstrates his/her skills and knowledge, he/she, too, can become a master.
Attending a trade school, learning and working at the same time eliminates the massive debt that would otherwise come from attending college. In most trades, it will not cost you for the specialized training you receive. You can work during the day alongside an expert and take your classes in the evening.
